We welcome short oral presentations and posters describing the activity of well-defined chemical compounds for the treatment of viral diseases of humans and vertebrate animals and on the protective activity of vaccines for humans. Reports of the antiviral effect of a novel small-molecule drug must reveal its chemical structure. Claims of in vitro or in vivo efficacy of a drug or vaccine must be supported by appropriate statistical analysis. We discourage the submission of abstracts reporting the antiviral activity of unpurified natural products, or of partially purified substances. Abstracts claiming an antiviral effect of homeopathic products or other highly diluted preparations, or which fail to clearly identify the biological ingredient or molecule responsible for the antiviral activity of an experimental therapy, will be rejected. Presentations on antiseptics with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity will not be considered. We also discourage talks or posters on silicodocking studies or other computer-based predictions of antiviral activity that are not supported by data from biological assays.
ATTENTION ICAR2020 ACCEPTED AUTHORS: Given that accepted abstracts for ICAR2020 did not have a chance to be presented, an updated version of that abstract can be submitted exceptionally this year and still be considered for an oral presentation for ICAR2021.
Important Notice about Presentation Format for ICAR2021
As ICAR2021 is a Virtual Conference, all accepted presenters (oral and posters) will be required to submit their prerecorded video presentations and/or electronic posters prior to the Conference by February 19, 2021. Additional details about presentation format will be posted at a later time.
Abstract title is limited to 250 characters. Abstract body is limited to 250 words. The system will automatically impose these restrictions when you enter your abstract.
Oral presentations will be selected only from the initial submission period, which ends on December 4th. The site will then reopen on December 9th and remain open through January 25, 2021, but acceptance during this period will only be for poster presentations.
A regular feature of ICAR is the judging of posters by a designated committee and the award of cash prizes. For your poster to be entered in the competition, you must register your interest during the abstract submission process, following the instructions below:
- Begin your abstract submission.
- When asked if you would like to be considered for a Poster Award, select "Yes”.
- Answer the subsequent questions.
- Upon notification of poster abstract submission, further details will be provided. However, you will be required to submit your poster online via the abstract system in advance of the meeting.
NOTE: Anyone who is selected to give an oral presentation, but would like to compete for a Poster Award, should notify ICAR staff and prepare a poster to present at the meeting.
